Register of Deeds Patricia Shearman Patricia Shearman is the 18th register to serve Oxford County East since its inception in 1805. She has a master's degree in American and New England Studies from the University of Southern Maine and a Sociology degree from Ohio University. She reveres the records of our forebears while embracing technology. Pat serves on the board of Norway Landmarks Preservation Society, which recently moved the 1850 Gingerbread House in downtown Norway thus saving it from planned demolition. Her interests include woodworking, all things historical, storytelling and the creative uses of computers. |

The Registry handles deeds, mortgages, discharges, liens, abstracts of divorce, abstracts of probate, land installment contracts, powers of attorney, court papers and anything affecting the ownership of land including subdivision plans and standard boundary surveys.
Land records from Stoneham, Stow, Lovell, Fryeburg, Brownfield, Denmark, Porter and
Hiram are kept at the Western District Office located at
38 Portland
Street, Fryeburg, ME 04037.
