PARIS — Bids for the $14 million Oxford County courthouse expansion and renovation will go out next week, according to county Administrator Scott Cole.

The primarily state-funded project is part of a $90 million package funded by the Maine Legislature to make courthouses in Oxford, Waldo and York counties more secure.

Cole said in an email last week that bids will go out Jan. 23. Subcontractors’ offers will be opened at 2 p.m. Feb. 20 and general contractors’ offers opened at 2 p.m. Feb. 27. Construction will begin as soon as the ground thaws and is expected to be finished in May 2020, Cole said.

Cole said plans include a two-story, 11,000-square-foot addition, interior renovations, a $30,000 metal-detection system and extensive reconfiguration of traffic flow and parking areas around the Western Avenue complex.
