At the Court of Oxford County Commissioners begun and held at Mexico, within and for the County of Oxford on April 1, 2008, there were present:

5:00 Pledge of Allegiance
Mike Worthly and Mr. True of the Roxbury ATV Club asked if the Commissioners would allow ATVs to travel the East B Hill Road. The Commissioners tabled the decision until a later date.
5:10 Scott Parker; EMA update
5:30 Dean Milligan of Med-Care Ambulance Service offered to cover Andover West & North, C Surplus, C Township, Riley, Grafton and Milton for $3,500 a year. The Commissioners tabled their decision until a later date.
Pattie Duguay reported that she had reviewed the NACO prescription plan and the County Rx cards and thought the County Rx Cards had a better discount. The cards will be made available to all county residents at no cost. All pharmacies in the county will honor these cards, giving a discount of 10-30 percent. The cards are designed for uninsured and underinsured residents. Those with insurance can also use the cards, but most likely will pay a lower co-pay than the card allows. The Commissioners voted unanimously to order the cards.
5:50 Sheriff Gallant announced that
- the SO is issuing child ID cards
- incidents were up from 2007 calls
- Maine State Police nominated Deputies Nelson and Halacy and Corporal Brown for a special award
- the jail can still house juveniles for a minimum period and that perhaps the Rumford Group Home may want to house them in the County House
- State installed a phone for the inmates
- SO received 4 TVs from a Walmart grant - one each for Brownfield, Rumford substations, CID office and cave.
The Commissioners presented certificates of recognition to Brian Palmer and Ernie Cloutier for rescuing teenager Cody Magoon, who was stranded on his snowmobile on Holman Mountain in Dixfield.
There was discussion regarding changing the county fiscal year and now on the first day of April 1, 2008 the Commissioners adjourned at 7:00 p.m. |
