Computer System Budget Request 2008
The Oxford County Joint Law Enforcement 2006 Homeland Security Grant for $187,000.00 has enabled Oxford County to purchase and install the module Mobile 4.1 and the State Link. This module is based at the Oxford County Regional Communication Center and links all the computers to the Spillman data and cross references its information with the Maine State Bureau of Motor Vehicle Records at the Maine Department of Public Safety. This system is a full public safety operation system.
Currently seventeen (17) Oxford County Patrol Units have been equipped with mobile terminals; monies coming from the Homeland Security Grant, forfeited drug money and budgeted funds. The Towns of Norway, Mexico, Dixfield, Bethel and Oxford each have mobile terminals as well.
By the end of 2007 there will be 35 cruisers and 150 law enforcement personnel in Oxford County using the mobile data system. Great success has been seen at the crime and accident scenes with law enforcement having instant access to communications with the Regional Communications Center and other emergency responders.
